Jewish Silicon Valley (JSV), a non-profit organization focused on connecting, fostering, and advocating for the Jewish community in Silicon Valley, is pleased to announce the launch of the Community Safety Fund, a new dedicated initiative designed to enhance safety and security for the well-being of the local Jewish community. The Community Safety Fund, housed at and administered by Jewish Silicon Valley, will provide flexible, responsive support to address urgent and emerging community safety needs in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties in light of escalating threats and recent attacks targeting Jewish institutions locally and across the United States. The initiative is anchored with grant funding from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF).
“According to the Antisemitism Worldwide Report, 2025 was the deadliest year for the Jewish community in more than three decades,” said Daniel Klein, CEO of Jewish Silicon Valley. “At the same time, security costs for Jewish institutions in Silicon Valley have risen by nearly 200%, creating significant financial strain for organizations already working to meet growing community needs.”
“Following a series of community listening sessions conducted in partnership with SVCF between late 2025 and early 2026, it became clear that safety and security were among the most urgent concerns facing Jewish organizations across our region,” Klein added. “We are grateful for SVCF’s partnership in helping launch this fund to provide timely, flexible support for institutions working to keep people safe and connected.”
Funding is available to any organization serving the Jewish community (e.g. nonprofits, religious institutions, schools, and community spaces) in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties for urgent safety and security needs. Eligible uses include supplemental security personnel, physical upgrades (such as cameras, lighting, and barriers), security training and assessments, emergency preparedness, and short-term operational costs related to heightened security.
Jewish Silicon Valley is now accepting applications for funding from the Community Safety Fund and invites eligible organizations to review the current grant guidelines and submit proposals.
We are committed to maintaining safe spaces in Silicon Valley and invite you to join us in strengthening our Jewish ecosystem by contributing to this vital fund.
